Hamas’ devastating attack on Israeli citizens over the past weekend prompted a hefty response from Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Not only has the military struck back, Netanyahu announced plans to cut the Gaza Strip population off from electricity, food and other necessities, effectively closing the small Palestinian-populated area from the rest of the world. Hamas, in return, says it plans to execute non-combatant hostages until the retaliation ends. What, however, happens next? Israel is entirely capable of destroying and fully isolating Gaza as well as potentially handling any aggression from Hezbollah and other hostile factions if that were to happen.
