The BRICS nations are poised to supplant the dollar with a gold-backed currency. Still, the Federal Reserve will likely not go down without a fight. A potential plan would be to make the dollar a Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC), although this would present a different set of concerns — some of which have been pointed out by Fed leaders.
